The desserts were so tasty! Lavender and chestnut hojicha donuts were great—the glaze on the lavender is on the sweet side but contains so much flavor. The cake is also light and spongy. Strongly recommend the hojicha latte as well. Service: Dine in Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Black Sesame Chiffon, Vegan Donuts

Got a iced hojicha latte with almond milk and it was done to perfection! It was delicious. Should have gotten another one! Also got 3 donuts and 3 madelaines. They were all so very tasty, light and overall just so satisfying. We'll be coming back for more! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

White Heron Coffee Griffintown 1. Hojicha yuzu chiffon cake (and other chiffon cakes and shortcakes) 2. Black sesame vegan donut worth trying again 3. Black sesame "pain" loaf interesting 4. Other donuts? Mugicha? Earl Grey? 5. Good coffee, a bit expensive Etc. ° 2023/09/03 Been twice. Taiwanese-owned apparently. Some Japanese(-inspired) flavors in cakes and pastries. Amongst the items we've tried so far, I liked the hojicha yuzu chiffon cake the best. Samuel didn't like the Korean-style thick cream frosting on the cakes; I think this type of frosting may go better with their chiffon cakes than with their shortcakes, although in general, I also prefer the Hong Kong(-Japanese) style fresh whipped cream. The black sesame vegan donut was not bad, although the dough last week wasn't well-mixed I think. I may try this item again. As for the black sesame loaf, it was more bread ("pain" indeed) than cake. The black sesame taste wasn't very prominent (to me it tasted more like the black equivalent version of the red bean paste i.e., "black bean sand" in Hong Kong, interesting.) The dough, however, wasn't evenly mixed either it seemed. Samuel may have enjoyed the texture of this one more than I did. (BTW Labels of pastry items and the lists of ingredients were not all available, making the shopping experience rather difficult. Since vegan customers are also their target clientele, we were a bit surprised.) Coffee was good as per Samuel, although he said it was a bit expensive. The one he tried last time was an Americano single-origin Guatemala. I might urge him to try a pourover sometime. It appears to be their specialty. I think he also suggested the inclusion of some savoury items onto their menu e.g. sandwiches. I'd like to see the addition of the Japanese curry pan, the Taiwanese pineapple bun, the Hong Kong baked BBQ pork buns dim sum trios (honey-glazed, HK-pineapple, HK-Mexican cookie top), to name a few, as an Asian coffee one-stop shop, if I am not being unrealistic. The Taiwanese pineapple bun, for example, fresh out of the oven every time I had it as a kid, was the version of pineapple bun (por lor bao) I grew up eating, in Hong Kong. Seems like a nice neighbourhood to explore.
