This was a big miss. You can’t just call yourself a fine dining, tasting menu restaurant without actually doing the work. We walked in to an overwhelming scent of several incense sticks burning inches away from the tables, my eyes were burning all night because we sat next to a planter that they had out an incense in, the smoke was literally wafting into our table all night. The service was very basic, our host didn’t know the wine list and couldn’t answer basic questions about the menu without checking with the kitchen. We ordered the 6 course tasting menu, which took forever because of very awkwardly long waits between underwhelming courses. One of the dishes was basically half a raw tomato that was sliced and fanned out with a teaspoon of tofu purée under it and the tomato wasn’t even ripe (it’s tomato season right now) and it was fridge cold. I didn’t even order drinks, my partner had a glass of wine and with the two tasting menus and just a single glass of wine, we spent more than 300$, left totally hungry and with a headache from the incense. While we were paying, our server suddenly became very present and started asking what our favorite dishes were and the whole experience was a huge miss. Absolutely do not recommend that you spend your money here. At most, maybe the a la carte menu for a snack. I am a chef and an avid restaurant diner and take no pleasure in writing negative reviews but that’s a lot of people’s hard earned money to charge for an experience like this. There’s more to food than plating and fermentation. So frustrating. Rooms: 2 Service: 2 Location: 2

Came by for dinner the other night and it was a world class experience. Ration Beverley is located inside a hotel and is featured inside the Michelin guide. Made a reservation for dinner and our table was ready upon arrival. There were merely a couple of tables during our visit. During the booking process, there is an option to pay a surcharge for a specific table inside the dining room. Opted for the 2.5 hour 10 course tasting menu in the dining room where the air conditioning was limited. Our waiter Kevin ended up being our dedicated waiter throughout the evening and was hospitable. Started off with the scallops cource and it was a nice portion of scallops crudo topped with some super fresh and lightly fermented vegetables. Moved on to the tomatoes course and the flavors and textures all complemented the course well, especially with the tofu puree on the bottom. The grits course was quite tasty. This course was very light and tasty, topped with some pumpkin seeds for texture along with some okra for contrast. The carrots course was super unique. Fresh and flavorful carrots topped with some super tasty pesto, which was a touch on the saltier side. I think the sourdough bread may have been one of the highlights of the meal. Super light and refreshing soudough that was light and tasty. The risotto course came with generous portions and I had trouble finishing this. Flavors were on point. The branzino course was great with crispy skin on the branzino contrasting with a moist interior. The side of vegetables were great. The main entree was a ribeye which came out towards a medium. The side of mashed potatoes were light and tasty. The pre-dessert was on the sweeter side and I was super full to finish the dessert which was also a touch on the sweet side. ~$190/head after tax and gratuity for dinner.
