Food: I was just disappointed with the quality of the noodle soup that I had, to the point that I felt I should better have gone to the other pho place. The soup is bland LIKE water, I expect that the broth was richer because it is used to simmer the beef for hours. I do not like the type of noodle that they are using(probably packed noodles); it is uncoventional to what other places use. Also, I requested extra meat for additional charge but looks like it is the normal amount of meat that you can get from other restaurants for the regular price. The spring roll is too small for the price of two. Service: Just okay. Atmosphere: It is a small place, and I was the only customer. I was not comfortable with the older man(owner) secretly watching me while I was eating. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Food: 1 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 2

I've been to Thai Luong Vietnamese Noodle House several times now. They specialize in Northern Vietnamese food, specifically bun cha. They're along the same strip as Green Leaf Bubble Tea and Boba Monster. The inside is small with 5 tables (about 28 seats). It's family run and they always bring you a hot glass of tea to start. There's a TV usually with sports on. Trip #1 We dropped in on a Sunday afternoon (around 3:00pm). - Herbs - comes with the usual bean sprout, lime and basil. The most interesting thing was the pickled onions. - Bun thit nuong cha nem cha la lot (C7) ($14.50) - grilled pork, Hanoi spring rolls and betel leaf sausages. Haven't seen this at many Vietnamese places. Everything was fantastic! Spring rolls are authentic and crispy but wish they gave you more than one roll. Betel leaf had a delicious filling. Grilled pork (two types) were satisfying along with the pickled onion and carrots. This is the only vermicelli dish I want to eat. - Pho tai bo vien (B5) ($9.50) - rare beef and beef balls. There's a bit of green onion, sliced onion and cilantro. The broth is simple but flavours are clean and has good depth. Trip #2 Second time around, we came on a Tuesday evening (around 7:00pm). Place was dead except for one other table. - Herbs - slightly different than first time with lettuce, basil, cilantro and bean sprouts. - Bun rieu tom cha ca (C2) ($11.00) - shrimp and meat paste in soup. There were three shrimps, fish cakes and crunchy celery sticks. The broth is subtle, almost underwhelming but there's an underlying depth to it. The only thing I didn't love was the vermicelli noodles; thin and not much of a bite to them. - Bun oc (C3) ($11.50) - escargot, tofu, fish cake and bamboo in spicy soup. The escargot had a chewy, bouncy bite and the fish cakes were fantastic. Same noodles as the bun rieu. Again, the broth was light and clean but with depth. I wouldn't call it spicy but there was a hint of sour tanginess to it. Trip #3 Dropped in on a Saturday for lunch (around 12:30pm). - Herbs - Pho nam ga (B9) ($9.50) - brisket and free range chicken. Don't see this combo very often. Both the brisket and chicken were tender yet retained its bite. Broth was clean and a touch on the sweeter side. - Bun cha ca (C1) ($9.50) - fish cakes in soup. This is similar to their bun rieu option. Broth is subtle but homey. Fish cakes are tasty. Seriously, you should only order this from here or Hoang Yen. Cash or debit only. Solid, comfort Northern Vietnamese eats.
