We were restaurant-window-shopping on Victoria street one day and attracted to the unique menu of Hủ Tiếu Hồng Phát (Hồng Phát Vancouver), particularly the pork-knuckle-bone soup. Instead of the ubiquitous beef soup with many variants, Hồng Phát have various broth (duck, tomato, seafood, clear...), and their fried spring roll still use the authentic rice-wrap (not flour), and the pork and the prawn inside their non-fried spring roll are tastily seasoned. The portion are generous with reasonable price. All our friends/families we invited there were always wowed, first when they bit into the appetizer, then when the dishes came. But, the reason we wrote and gave this 5-star review to Hồng Phát Vancouver is the atmosphere. Somehow, we always have a good time all the three times we had our meals there, without and with guests. Although the restaurant is rather small (ie not wheelchair friendly), people laugh easily, conversation flow easily, not only at our table but at every table we observed; not sure whether it is because of the good food or the servers. Tonight, they obviously look tired after a long day, but all the servers smile genuinely and seems to have as a good time as we are having our good time, one of them always come by our table asking if we need anything and if the food is okay. When I asked which server is serving our table, one server smilingly said, 'we are'. Good team work, great attitude. How good can that be, eh?
