Fresh Start Bakery & Cafe was a welcome sight while walking around the basement mall in the Atrium on Bay. I instantly loved the reclaimed wood look after seeing concrete and glass that is de rigueur around the entire area of downtown. What a nice relief and relaxation for both the eyes and soul. There is a display case of interesting looking middle eastern style baking right at the front, with an order counter next to that. Toward the rear is a hot table area with some nice full plated meals for around $13.95. I had that one day and it was delicious! Nice to have a complete fish dinner plated and all, with a Turkish coffee to sip while eating. The Turkish coffee is a must-have while here, so delicious! I was back a few times and tried the sandwiches which also were very good. The Turkish breakfast would be amazing here as well, although since it was lunch time I gravitated towards either the hot plate meal, or a sandwich. The people working at Fresh Start are very nice to deal with and also dine with in the restaurant with more of a homey feel rather than the usual noisy cafeteria vibe. There's nothing like this place anywhere I've been in the area, so qualifies as a hidden gem of a place to have your lunch, or pick-me-up.
