We heard about Sarang Kitchen's story, and we are happy to report that they genuinely walk the talk. The restaurant is not large, with a few different seating options. We opted for 2 platters of fried chicken - 'Choice Bro' and 'Golden Lava'. I had never had anything like the 'Golden Lava', which has salted egg yolk sauce and curry leaves. Highly recommend this option if you're looking for something non-traditional but still delicious. Our waiter also mentioned this was his favourite menu item. The chicken was crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. We had some leftovers after our meal, and I savoured it just as much the next day. Throughout the restaurant are elements that demonstrate their commitment to the neurodivergent community, such as sensory boxes and a multi-sensory room. They also have a 'hospitality included' policy, promoting equal pay between FOH and BOH staff. Overall, we had a lovely experience at Sarang Kitchen.

Decently good food and you get lots of it too! We ordered the sarang platter for 2 people and we basically were able to take more than half of it back. The chicken was super crispy but be warned, thought it is to be expected, the food was fairly greasy. Regardless, the story behind the shop is cute, they are halal friendly, and the service was good.

Sarang Kitchen is a cozy spot that serves crispy Korean chicken with a selection of flavors and sides. They are well known for their eating contest, during our stay, a group did give it a try and made a concerted effort for the 5 lbs of fried chicken in 15 min. It is a place that serves Halal and is accommodating with people who face neurodivergent needs. There is a sensory room as well as sensory friendly hours to help create an inclusive outing experience for those that need the service/facilities. The space is small and cozy and they have tables that seat 2s and 4s with some booths and tables that are side-by-side that may be able to fit more. (Some of the tables are on the ground with bean bag seats.) I would likely only come with up to 4 people, only due to the space and the popularity of the restaurant. We ordered the Sarang Platter that comes with 2 chicken flavors, a fried squid, a tornado cut chip on a skewer, 4 dipping sauces, cabbage coleslaw, and pickled radish with the boneless option. The server was great and their sauce recommendation was on point and everything was cooked fresh. The food arrive around 20-30 min after seating and ordering. Wait time for a Saturday afternoon was great, we only had to wait 10-15 min to have a table open up. The fried chicken batter is one of the crispiest I've had and was a great vessel for the sauce. If you like sauce on moist chicken, this is the place for that. For two people, we were comfortably full after eating about 75-80% of the platter and took the rest home where it all reheated very well in the air fryer. Would come again with friends that eat Halal, looking forward to trying their spicy rice cake stew in future.
