I was walking out of an office across the street and smelt their food cooking and had to try it. Easily the best Greek spot in Mississauga, portions are huge and the food slaps harder than an unloving step-parent. It's the only place where my buddy doesn't complain about the takeout food being shit and actually brought his wife here too. 6/5 stars Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I was craving Greek food for lunch and found Plaka online. It had amazing ratings, and it certainly didn't disappoint! The food was fresh, the service was fast, and the restaurant was spotless. You get generous portions, too. I really enjoyed my meal today! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Excellent Food and Staff, Challenging Atmosphere I’ve been to Plaka Restaurant multiple times over the past one to three years, and this review comes from repeat experiences, not a one-off visit. I usually call ahead to place my order to help things move more efficiently for both the staff and myself, however during peak hours this does not always make a difference. The food itself is consistently good, and I want to be very clear about this, the chefs and kitchen staff are excellent and clearly care about what they do. You can tell there is pride behind the counter, and the quality of the food reflects that. I’ve never had an issue with the food itself. Where things begin to fall apart is the ambiance and overall in-store experience. The interior is very dated and functional, and while decor is not everything, the atmosphere can feel tense and uncomfortable during busy periods. Weekdays between 12 pm and 2 pm are especially challenging. Even when ordering ahead, I’ve experienced waits of 20 minutes or more, because orders are essentially added to an already overwhelmed queue rather than being timed individually. The customer environment during these rush hours is another issue. The restaurant attracts a very high-traffic crowd, and interactions between staff and customers can become abrupt. On one visit, I witnessed customers firmly telling another small group of customers to move to the back of the line, which added to the already stressful feel of the space. There is also a noticeable amount of staring and crowd pressure, which may be uncomfortable for some people. To be clear, this is not a criticism of the staff or chefs, who are doing their best under constant volume. This is more about crowd management, pacing, and the overall atmosphere created during peak times. My advice is simple. If you want to genuinely enjoy Plaka, avoid peak lunch hours, order during quieter times, and focus on takeout rather than dining in. The food is worth it, but the in-store experience during rush periods often is not. With some improvements to crowd flow and atmosphere, this place could easily be a stronger overall experience.
