Quelle magnifique experience! Un vrai délice gustatif dans une ambiance splendide. Cuisine inventive et parfaitement mâitrisée. Le service est suriant, discrêt, attentionné, très professionel! Soirée unique aux multiples saveurs. :) Je recommande vivement.
This was our 2nd visit (via Jong KeukenGeweld) to Paps after having been here in March. However, the experience was night and day different. Where there was still a pleasantly busy atmosphere in March, the staff was attentive and helpful and the restaurant was clearly running at full speed (you noticed that they were working with passion, from the chef to the sommelier), this time there was nothing of the sort. . Only the host and chef were present, which created a somewhat chilly, quiet atmosphere. Sonny Wuyts is referred to as chef but was host during our visit, which is a striking change. The number of tables (±8) made this possible and I understand that extra staff is expensive or difficult to find. But if all kinds of things are still forgotten and/or happen slowly, this is far from ideal, here is a summary: - On arrival we were offered the menu for an aperitif, after which we waited 25 minutes, while wine was quietly served at other tables, water was delivered, ... - At the same time we asked for sparkling water, which we also only received after the aperitif (after ±30 minutes) - The bottle of sparkling water is not left on the table, but every time after your (half) glass of water is finished you have to try to get hold of the host to have it refilled, if the service is not running smoothly it seems to me anyway It's easier to leave the bottle alone - No menu or information about what the evening would bring - No extra options for an extra course or cheese board - No bread offered despite there being 2 pieces of butter on the table, only after asking for bread was they hastily looked for bread for us ('because it might have run out'...) - Just forgot the appetizer, we were a bit unsure because the tables next to us (and those that came in later) had received this, but for us the wine for the starter was quickly poured. So my wife asked, 'Don't we get an appetizer?', which was followed by a slightly lying 'of course we do'. It seemed as if he wanted to give us the feeling that nothing had gone wrong at all and that this was a crazy question on our part, but of course the wine betrayed the mistake that had happened. No apologies, no sense of guilt towards us, just pretend like nothing happened and continue with the evening, very uncomfortable. - After pouring the wine, my wife comments 'I don't think we're both going to drink wine tonight' (since we also have to drive home), after which the answer 'I can have one glass, right? And with the main course a small glass of red', as if the decision was made for us. After the starter, this was not discussed again and the red wine glasses were simply placed and filled without any questions. I then drank my wife's wine since it had already been paid for... (this is included in the JKG formula) - WiFi code requested due to no range, forgotten again and not received. And honestly, I didn't bother asking a second time because this was already the umpteenth question from us in a short time. The last negative point was that the host and chef regularly started smoking, after which they appeared at the table with a smoke smell. Not only do we not find this pleasant in a restaurant, but also the fact that as a guest you are regularly left alone for 5 minutes, no more noise from the kitchen, no movement anywhere, just silence, feels very strange and very uncomfortable in such a restaurant. fancy business. The food was delicious and well prepared, but unfortunately that did not save our evening. We were truly sorry to have to go through this experience as we had rave reviews after our visit in March and were looking forward to visiting again. Maybe the current line-up has something to do with it, but I don't think it should happen this way. For the sake of completeness, everything was served with a smile and our (many) questions were answered in a friendly manner, but it did not come across as sincere because something was always forgotten or overlooked, which made the friendliness seem somewhat played. Made a reservation a month ago for our wedding anniversary. After two confirmation emails, we stood in front of a closed door and it turned out that we had received a cancellation email of our reservation fifteen minutes in advance. I have already sent 2 emails and called to ask if they would answer the email, but have not received a response or apology to date. Too bad for a place of that level.
