My sister and I stopped by this shop on a Thursday afternoon. A lovely, cute deli & bakery ran by a very kind and lovely gentleman. We ordered the special of the day, a delicious philly cheesesteak and the Angry bird. Generous toppings on each, we found the cheesesteak to be especially delicious. Tender and generous portions of steak with gooey cheese and yummy sauteed/caramelized onions. So good!! Just a really great sandwich with great and fresh ingredients. Well worth the value too. I will definitely be returning to try more of their daily special selections!

I've bookmarked Mother's Deli & Bakery for years. But the stars never seem to align. I guess, I don't pass by Markham Main Streer that often to begin with. At times where I ended up there, it's either a day off for them or they were closed for some reason (the were closed for a bit during the summer). This fall, I finally got a chance to visit for all the wrong reasons (a family member had to go for a nearby hospital visit). Upon arrival, the owner was extremely welcoming. I ordered a roast beef sandwich and chatted it up a bit with him. I asked him how business was during the pandemic and he expressed that times have been tough, considering that they no longer have the contracts to supply nearby schools with lunches due to Covid restrictions. He's keeping positive but he was concerned about the viability of the business going forward. Now that it's winter, I'm happy to see that their business is still hanging around. Back to the food. It's a pretty big sandwich for the price you pay. Aside from quantity, the quality is equally satisfying. Their signature homemade roast beef is served on a fresh Kaiser bun. The roast beef had a good beefy taste and had good texture to it since they make them medium rare. Next time I get the sandwich, I would definitely ask them to go a bit more heavy on the Mayo and to add a dash of mustard (I opted for no mustard the other time). I also wanted to pick up some bagels on the way out, but they stopped making bagels on weekdays due to the pandemic. I haven't been back since but I hope things are back on track for them. Moms and pops shops like Mother's Deli and Bakery deserves everyone's support!
