Francesco Occhiuto first opened the doors to the Montreal landmark, La Baia dei Formaggi, in 1973. La Baia dei Formaggi was founded on a passion for Italian cheese and quality Italian products, and a desire to help the Italian community feel at home. In 1997 Mr. Occhiuto was the first to import Italian Parma Prosciutto in Canada!
At La Baia, our focus is on bringing our customers specialty, quality, and exclusive products mostly from Italy, but also products from other European countries, as well as local goods. We have the biggest selection of cheeses in eastern Canada! We have over 400 varieties of cheese, such as traditional Italian burrata and truffle burrata , mozzarella di bufala, torta mascarpone e gorgonzola, cacciota, parmigiano reggiano, parmigiano reggiano vacche rosse, taleggio, parmesan, pecorino romano, and grana padano.
We also offer as over 80 varieties of deli meats, such as prosciutto di Parma, prosciutto San Daniele, jamon Serrano, prosciutto Ruliano, jambon de Bayonne, Italian mortadella from Bologna, fennel salami, soppressata, guanciale, coppa, and bresaola.
