We were very disappointed. We discovered the Venner Gasthaus through the Mönchengladbach voucher book and made a reservation there by phone (as it says in the voucher book - and it does NOT say that you have to mention the voucher book on the phone!!!!). On site the waitress told us that she was not allowed to accept the voucher from the book (a second main course for free). We were very surprised by this, as we had come specifically for the voucher book. But she remained friendly and referred to the owner, who came to us later. Unfortunately he wasn't very interested and quite taciturn. In December he said he didn't accept vouchers anyway (it wasn't very busy in the restaurant). Well, it doesn't say that anywhere in the voucher book for his restaurant. Then he said that since we didn't announce the book when we made the reservation by phone, it doesn't count. Ok, we could get up again, go to the door, call and announce it... well... Our friend then tried to ask again in a private conversation what we had overlooked in the book, but the owner was unreasonable and... said again and again that his were the rules. However, we did not find his invented rule. It was annoying, but since we were sitting once, it was late and the children were hungry... yes, we ordered food, it was delicious and the service was friendly despite everything. But we certainly won't be coming back and won't recommend this inn. So be careful if you want to eat there with the voucher book! The owner does not accept the vouchers. The only question I have is why he wanted to be in this book. As you can read in other reviews below, we are not the only ones who share this experience here. And it's outrageous to claim that you don't follow the rules when you yourself are the rule breaker. Nowhere is it mentioned that the vouchers for this restaurant are not valid in December and that you have to refer to the voucher book on the phone. However, if you want to leave a negative review, we still ask for honesty! First of all, I would like to point out that this voucher is an invitation from every innkeeper and that with us, for example, a discount of €10 is granted and not, as mentioned, the second main course is free! You were informed before you placed your order that we would not accept vouchers from the voucher book in the month of December. It was up to you whether you wanted to stay or not. You insisted on speaking to the boss who wasn't there at the time. Nevertheless, you decided to stay, ordered and waited. When the boss arrived later, you had already received your food. He took the time to explain to you that there is unfortunately a printing error in the new book edition 2024/2025, where the note ... reservation with reference to voucher book was not printed, as it was in the previous edition 2023/2024 ( which he presented to you). So you can't really talk about being uninterested and taciturn here! Yet you totally ignored this…. don't want to accept it to redeem the voucher.
