I've been ordering from Hakka No. 1 for over a year now and they have some of the best food and customer service. They have been very accommodating to special requests/instructions and have made good, twice over, if there's any issues.Would recommend the Manchow Soup. Delicious.

A repost of my original review:

I usually get food frequently from this place. Very often in delivery orders, sometimes to pick up some take-out in person. The food is typically nicely serviceable. Sometimes it does make you sick but it was still usually good, so why is this a one star review? Why am I giving this the lowest score a restaurant could merit, a score that usually people give overly easily for a slightly bad service?

I called on phone to order 5 fish pakoras and 5 chicken pakoras. This has been done before; the receiver recognizes it as a request of 10 total pieces and 5 of each kind, since a single set is known to be 10 pieces total. When I arrive, I am met with a blistering bill of $146. Why is this? The order was taken as 5 Fish Pakora and 5 Chicken Pakora, as in 5 *sets* of 10 fish pakoras and 5 *sets* of 10 chicken pakoras! That's 50 each, 100 altogether!

Once faced with this receipt and bill, I tried realizing the gravity of the situation; they indeed had already made these 10 sets of 10 pakoras (100 total, 50 fish and 50 chicken), and I was indeed met with a bill expecting me to pay 10 meals worth of money when I wanted only one. I didn't want the situation to potentially escalate, I had that foresight, but this was ridiculous, and they did not make any effort in this either. I was simply met with how they were already made, so this had to be paid.

I don't get what thought process occurred here. Say you go to an establishment like Popeyes and order 3 chicken tenders. You are asking for the single meal of their well known set of 3 chicken tenders, you are not asking for 3 sets of 3 chicken tenders.

I was told that they repeated the price to me to make sure it was as I ordered. What was said sounded awfully close to $14, the price I was expecting of this since I usually go here!

What remains is a mystery is, you can afford to be far more specific with your repeat, it was so subtle it seemed like I simply had my expected price narrated back at me, that of around $14, not $146! There were still other potential stages this red flag could have been raised in more properly, to help proper make sure that either this meal is wanted, or this is misheard and rather something else. The caller did not clarify and repeat my order just in case in a more elucidating and distinct manner, because that is sorely recommended if you feel like you're getting any very large order as a caller of a restaurant. Not only this, but this still had to be paid because it was already made. Through the process, the caller could have gone over with the people around them to be sure that this many sets had to be made, because then it could be with a little of discussion found that perhaps it is simply 5 pieces of X pakoras and 5 pieces of Y pakoras. If this was stopped and/or questioned at this stage of the process, things could have ended up better. However this was handled completely, utterly, and sorely inadequately. There was a severe lack of self-questioning going on here and the order was simply dictated and made.

But hey, at least I got a 10% discount due to the situation's woes! The price was dropped from $146 to $132...hooray..........

I didn't expect a catering-level order, I just wanted one meal, and we legitimately did not have room for all this (for who would expect a 90 pakora reserve to stuff in the fridge or somewhere?), so I paid for it and asked that the rest be given away or whatever. It's better given away than wasted.

I still got 10 meals worth of cash sapped from me when I expected just one from the place I usually go to. I understand that they had already made the meals due to the miscommunication and there is a degree of commitment from this. This is still nonetheless a blistering bill and one of the foulest experiences I've ever had at a restaurant. I wasn't exercised the same manner of trying to self-mediate the scenario I was giving and was forced to pay 10 meals due to a mishearing when I asked, as people typically usually do, for one meal.

This was one of my favorite restaurants for halal Hakka food. I am never coming here again.
