I'm gutted. I tried a new restaurant today called Gwailo in Inglewood! It's a Chinese Fusion restaurant. My husband and I ordered the Dan Dan bolognese and the Pork Birria taco. They were both delicious! The most expensive item in their menu was $23 so the prices are very reasonable. We were so excited to find a new restaurant and thought we would come back. HOWEVER, the server told us they are closing this weekend. Apparently, being in Inglewood they did not get the foot traffic they hoped to get. Now I wish I heard about this restaurant sooner.
Firstly, this place has very kind and attentive customer service. We got some cocktails that were not bad - mine was the cocktail of the day and mostly tasted of soda water and my spouse's was the Ginger Sidecar that was anise-forward, which he enjoyed. We enjoyed some very tasty shao kao skewers: chicken thigh, lamb rump, and pork belly. The pork belly was our favourite, but we do wish there was more of it on the skewers rather than one piece and then some unremarkable kimchi. We also got the BBQ pork buns that were pretty good, but five-spice heavy and a little dry, which is not my personal preference over a smoky, saucy BBQ style bun. We hope to visit again to try other things on the menu. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $30–40
Honestly just a good genuine experience with some delicious foods, family, and friends. The wife got the Chow Mein and I got the Bolognese pasta and they were both terrific plus the service was great. Put it on the check out list for sure!
