Endroit superbe. La meilleure entrecôte loin à la ronde avec une sauce exceptionnelle. À tester absolument !

I visited Du Pont Basel in September 2025, wanting a co-worker who was visiting Switzerland for the first time, to enjoy a proper Swiss fondue. After investigating a few places, Du Pont Basel seemed to be a good option for a mix of quality with good price. Due to some unfortunate rain we were sitting inside. Overall very nice fondue! I assume it was moitié-moitié but not entirely sure - I don't recall the menu mentioned about it. Minor complaint, and it isn't really unique to this place and I've encountered it at a number of restaurants, but I find the bread is cut into rather small pieces. Often I am skewering two pieces at once to have a satisfying bite. Another colleague had a steak and I don't know it was a language barrier issue but he was asking for it to be prepared medium-rare but the server did not seem to understand the possibility. Like it either had to be rare or medium, and erring on the side of caution he chose medium. It arrived rather well-cooked. Reportedly it was still good, but not ideal. Lastly when paying there was a tip prompt on the card machine that was handed over. Really? In Switzerland? Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5

We are glad you enjoyed the fondue – no, it is not a traditional moitié-moitié recipe, it is a special blend form our cheesemaker – and we are happy that the overall experience was positive. Your feedback about bread size and steak preparation is very helpful. We will review this with our kitchen and service teams to ensure clearer communication and consistency. As for the card terminal: gratuities in Switzerland are not mandatory, and our team always mentions that you can skip the tip using the bottom button on the screen.
