I think this place is underrated. Their daily lunch specials are amazing. Great place for brunch without the lineups. And don’t forget to try their unique flavours of gelato! Lemon ricotta rosemary!

Death in Venice Gelato is a small, niche style ice cream parlour right within Constantinople Bakery, so it was a little difficult to decide what to review when I got in there. After much consideration and the fact that it was an extremely hot day when I went, I decided to try out the gelato.

My eyes were on one of the weirdest combinations I have ever heard of: chocolate, cricket and mealworm. Unfortunately, they only had that available in pint form and all I want was a little cup. Luckily, the woman at the counter allowed me to try multiple flavours in order to decide what exactly I wanted. To be completely fair, all of the flavours I had such as the Turkish coffee and salted caramel were really good and up to my standards of being raised in an mostly Italian community.

The one that blew me away and ended up purchasing was the smoked bourbon chocolate. On the outside, it just looks like your typical scoop of dark chocolate ice cream, but the smoke and bourbon added to gives it just enough of a twist that adds to the chocolate without being overpowering. It's almost like having a chocolate milkshake with whisky in it (which sounds amazing).

Considering the variety available and the end result I got, Death in Venice gelato is a place I recommend within the city. The only reason I'm not giving it a 5 now is because I still want to try that chocolate and cricket ice cream one day.
