Been twice now and really 10/10 both times! Very friendly staff, the location is great, the restaurant is cozy/intimate but still has privacy at every table, the chairs are comfortable and allergies/food preferences are very well taken into account. For example, I am allowed 0 gluten (celiac disease) and this was no problem at all. There was delicious gluten-free bread and a gluten-free cake for dessert. Even gluten-free cookies with coffee! Price-quality is particularly outstanding here: hence my favorable review. Wine pairing also highly recommended. De Heeren van Leeuwen is a gem of a restaurant at the water’s edge of the Oudegracht in Utrecht’s binnestad. The staff is caring and attentive and the atmosphere is cozy and comfortable. Such care is taken to make you feel “right at home” as soon as you walk through the door. We had the surprise menu which was beautifully presented with quality ingredients and perfectly paired with delicious wines hand-picked by the owner who is very knowledgeable. The pride and passion for the food is evident in every course. We especially appreciate that the chefs themselves bring the food to the table and explain the ingredients and formulations. It’s rare to find a restaurant of this quality, atmosphere and price in the city center.
