Showed up just before 5pm as the sign on the counter and google says it's open until 5:30. Kitchen was all cleaned and food was packed up with no employees at the front. Purposely walked out of my way to eat here and was super frustrated they closed early.

Hi Regina,I'm sorry to read you made your way to our restaurant only to leave frustrated as it appeared we had closed for the day. We do close at 5:30pm, however our menu is reduced from 3pm onwards in an effort to minimize waste as typically we don't have many guests coming by after that time. Thus our steam table is cleaned however we do still serve our made to order stir fry and crispy items. I checked our camera and our team member was at the back prepping and unfortunately didn't see you on the camera to come and serve you. Our apologies on that and I have already reminded our team to pay more attention when at the back. I really loved Basil Box in Sq1 and since moving away from the city, I have been wanting to eat there again. Decided to go before a Blue Jays game and grab a bite at this location. I thought the Path would take us there but Google mapped us outside. I am not used to the Path so heads up if you aren't either. My order was taken quickly and there wasn't a fresh restock of any of the food. We were getting the ends of the bins and due to this, some.of the food was either dry or hard. They have more toppings that you can add but before you were able to get two sauces and now you have to pay for the extra sauce. They only give you 1 with the meal and my food was still very dry for me. After paying, I saw a promo for 2 hand crafted drinks for $5 with the purchase of a box. I asked the worker what the hand crafted drinks were and he was so confused and had no idea what I was talking about. The other worker stepped in, explained and punched in a price override for my drink order. Overall, it was not the same meal that I remembered and expected. The prices have increased (obviously) and the portions got smaller. Shame but I won't be going out of my way to visit Basil Box again. Price per person: CA$10–20 Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3
