The food was average and we had the general tao and beef stir fry which were incidentally made in the same sauce. More over an 18% mandatory tip was charged which isn’t fair. I won’t be coming here again unless I run out of options. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $10–20 Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3 Recommended dishes: Manchurian, Fried Rice

Indian style Hakka Chinese food is always flavourful and delicious. There is a depth of flavour that you get when combining traditional Indian and Hakka spices. The Zen has mastered this delicate balance and has also added some Thai dishes to the mix. I was recently joined by some foodie friends for a wonderful meal. They were not very familiar with this cuisine but they all really loved it! Our meal started with Chicken Pakora and Manchurian Cauliflower. It was followed by our chef's choices of the popular Chilli Chicken, Manchurian Fish, Zen Special Shrimp, Crispy Ginger Chicken, Hyderabadi Chicken 65, Fried Rice, and Spicy Hakka Noodles. That was a lot of food and it was all good, darn good! But wait, it didn't stop there! After chatting with the owner/chef, he prepared an off-menu dish for us. It was a simple and very tasty Vermicelli Noodle Soup that everybody loved! We hope it ends up on the menu! Everything was delicious! Many thanks to our host/chef for a wonderful meal! Overhyped place for mid hakka in my honest opinion. Pros: their signature Hakka was not bad. Cons: 1) We ordered chicken manchurian hakka as one of our dishes, and they brought out what everyone on the table was 100% sure was fish. We asked the waiter to check it and the chef insisted what we received was chicken. We even broke the fish (pretty sure it was haddock fillet) down to show how flaky it was (picture attached), but the waiters were adamant that it was chicken. 2) Overpriced for mid Hakka imo 3) Their fried Momo were hard and flavorless, just felt drenched in sauce. 4) They also didn’t mention a service charge for tables of 4 at all before ordering, nor was it on their menu. We were told it was included as we were paying. I get restaurants charging service charges for larger table sizes, but don’t expect it to be done without informing their customers. Tl;dr - the chef is always right and they charge a service fee on tables of 4, which they don’t tell you of beforehand. Would not come back. Dear customer, Sorry to hear about your experience. This is not the kind of experience we would like you to have. Having said that, I have looked into your issue and can confirm that it is infact chicken and not FISH. Our chicken is white meat and very tender cut and made fresh daily which is why it looks and tasted like Fish. The server should have explained it this way instead of saying it was confirmed by the kitchen staffs. I apoligize for that. Our menu is priced very reasonably based on the rent in the downtown core. We are cheaper than most of our competitors if you may check. The service charge is just the tips for the servers for which you did not have to tip on top for the service they provided you. We thank you for your understanding on the tips as these servers depend on the tips to feed their family. Thank you for your business.
