Poor explanation of rules paired with unprofessional behaviour from the white male worker. Paid $26 for one pot of tea (worth $7 on their menu) and to sit there for an hour. I guess it’s only worth it to pay the anti-cafe fee if you’re gonna drink about 10 pots within two hours. Honestly stupid Edit in response to the management: The menu and its rules about switching between a la carte and the anti-cafe are poorly articulated and the paragraphs were missing obvious commas. The menu is clear that anti-cafe pricing begins after the first hour, and upon playing a board game you automatically switch to anti-cafe pricing. However, what is not clear is that you are immediately charged for two hours of anti-cafe pricing upon playing a board game, regardless of how long you stay. This is not well articulated and frankly doesn’t seem to make much sense. Additionally, we’re very aware that we were there for an hour and some, that’s not some “gotcha” point. We stayed, played some connect four, paid (and tipped 15%), and then have subsequently left a bad review because the business and what it offers is a poor deal. The whole business model is charging people to stay in the space, which no “normal” cafe does. You can pay $5 for a latte and chill in any other cafe for 6 hours. At the end of the day we payed $23 (like $26 after tip) for a pot of tea and some connect four, and if we really wanted to we could’ve had a few more pots of tea? Ok? Still a bad deal, especially if you don’t stay for a long time. I can pay $26 for two burritos and bring my own connect four to a restaurant if I really wanted to. Also, it is not true that you are “the least expensive board game cafe in town”, there are multiple cafes where if you buy a drink you can play their board games for as long as you want. Certainly won’t be coming back, especially seeing the petty and pointed comments you guys are making in response to customers reviews while you’re on the clock. Really unprofessional and odd. I suspect it was the white guy working who was lounging around on his phone half the time we were there. Can’t imagine getting into a business like this, lobbying as hospitable and welcoming yet having such immature responses to genuine criticism. Bye bye

The anti-cafe minimum is automatically charged if you play board games. This still makes us the least expensive board game cafe in town when you stay for 2 hours and you can still get unlimited tea when you do that. Whether you choose to interact with the unlimited tea is your prerogative, however it costs money to run a space and to buy board games. You paying $10 plus tax per person (22.60 altogether before whatever you put as tip) is more than fair and a better deal than you'll find anywhere else. That's besides the point that you both were there for an hour and forty five minutes and it clearly says we charge per person, per hour. This is to stop people taking advantage of the space and our time, in order to be more hospitable to ourselves. Please make sure you read the menu next time you go to an establishment, as it is clearly laid out in the menu. Thanks ManagementMore

I've lived in the neighbourhood my whole life and have never stepped foot into this absolute hidden gem!! The second you sit down you're transported somewhere totally different - between the art on the walls, the decor and the vibe and set up...I could go on. The tea is absolutely phenomenal and their staff's recommended blends are also fantastic. Their food is also really yummy. I had the Lox on their all day brunch menu. It was perfect. The owner is a lovely gentleman as well. I will definitely be going back!

I heard a lot about Bampot House before our visit. We ordered salmon bagel and vegetarian curry. The salmon bagel was pretty tasty but the curry was quite bland. Their chai tea was actually pretty good. Service was friendly and quick. Other than that, I wasn’t too impressed with the place. It might be the lack of natural sun light or the old decor, which i didnt find the place to be inviting. Meal type: Brunch Price per person: $20–30 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4
