On the way home we made a three-day stopover at the Posthotel Alexander Herrmann including the booked “SPECIAL DATE” package. In bright sunshine, the hotel in the center of Wirsberg looked very inviting from the outside. Large old trees, a beautiful fountain, well-marked hiking trails and a beer garden invite you to take a walk and linger. The hotel and the restaurants each have a separate entrance, but are connected to each other indoors. On the first evening there was a 3-course menu in the “oma & enkel” restaurant. We were assigned a very nice table right by the window over the stream. The entire restaurant reflects the motto of the name “grandma & grandson”. Whether lamps made from tea sets, cushions with embroidered names of grandma's dishes, grandma's sayings on the wall and ceiling or beautiful old pictures. Each course of the menu consisted of 3 tapas from grandma's kitchen. Only local products are perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. The food was very good and the selection was perfectly suited to the beginning of autumn. Above all, the pumpkin soup and the brown bread with butter were a revelation. Robin's service was very personable and professional, but his colleague left him with a rather negative feeling - except when she unexpectedly had a hearty laugh. So she can, but doesn't want to, which is a shame. The ambience in the bistro is casual, but not very chic. Since there were no overly loud guests, it was fine despite the narrow room layout. The prices are high, but some dishes or components were not only the most expensive, but also the best of our lives so far. The head chef is young, friendly and very competent. Vegetarian options: There is a vegetarian tapas menu and at least one vegetarian dish to choose from for each course outside of the tapas.
