I recently visited your bakery and purchased six pre-packaged, frozen cupcakes. The following day, I realized I had been charged tax on my purchase. Given that there is no tax on the sale of six items in Ontario, I went back to discuss the issue with the owner, expecting a quick resolution. Unfortunately, the experience was far from what I anticipated. Rather than receiving a helpful response, I found the owner’s demeanor to be dismissive and unprofessional. I was surprised by his lack of willingness to address my concern or make a correction, and was even told that I should not shop there anymore. As someone who has worked in the bakery industry, I’m aware that tax should not have been charged in this case, and was hoping for a simple explanation or reimbursement. I’m disappointed not only by the misapplication of tax regulations but also as the way I was treated as a customer. I understand that mistakes happen, but the lack of respect and customer service made this a frustrating experience. I hope you take this feedback seriously and work to ensure that both tax laws and customer concerns are handled more appropriately moving forward. I went in for the first time yesterday after seeing many posts on Instagram. I wanted to purchase a Nutella cake for my daughters birthday. They were out but had just baked that morning and said that they would make it while I waited. I had my mom with me and they brought out a complimentary cupcake for us while we waited and it was one of the best cupcakes we’ve ever tasted. In the 15 minutes while we waited, so many happy customers came in to purchase cupcakes and cookies. When she brought out my daughter’s cake, she had specially iced it for her. I would definitely recommend La Cakery London, the Nutella cake was absolutely fabulous and the mocha cupcake was equally as good. The price was very reasonable as well.
