The service and food here is next level, better than some 3-star Michelin restaurants I’ve eaten. I’m not a fan of the 8-course tasting menu, and you can easily choose a la carte. We were here for two dinners, the ravioli & lobster tagliatelle starters were both amazing. And for mains had the John Dory (fish), which just melted in your mouth; and the veal cheek. Both were epic. The amouse bouche was a nice surprise. The chef is a master of sauces, they complemented each course and just took each course to another level. They also had an outstanding (& reasonable) wine list. We really felt well taken care of here, the staff were all exceptional! If you get an early sitting, pick a table along the window, amazing views! Service: 5

The Zass Restaurant is the gourmet corner of the legendary Hotel San Pietro in Positano, one of the most beautiful hotels in the world and the excellence of Italian hospitality. The location is enchanting, refined and with a breathtaking view of the Amalfi Coast and, in the evening, also of the kitchen, recently renovated and equipped with technologically advanced systems that respect the latest environmental and energy saving standards. The welcome, friendliness and warmth of the dining room staff made me feel at ease, as if I were at home, surrounded by people who have always known me. The quality of the food is excellent, and most of the dishes are prepared with ingredients from the property's own terraced gardens. The dishes are harmonious, balanced and Mediterranean, cooked to perfection by the kitchen team, led by the very talented and friendly Belgian Chef Alois, who gives a touch of creativity to the preparations, some of them true "works of art", to be take photos before starting to eat. The evening was unforgettable and, before entering the Zass Restaurant, I spent half an hour on the magnificent terrace for an aperitif at sunset. I opted for a Campari Spritz, served mixed to perfection, accompanied by excellent appetizers, all prepared instantly. Entering the restaurant was exciting and, guided with empathy and professionalism by the Maître, the Sommelier and the dining room staff, I chose the following dishes from the menu and with matching wines: fried scampi with potato puree, cuttlefish and green apple (a dish that combines tradition and innovation, accompanied with a flute of Dom Pérignon 2012), as a first course, a traditional classic such as "Spaghetti Positano", accompanied by a great white wine from Campania, and, as a second course, Pesce San Lemon Pietro with buffalo yoghurt potato puree, paired, this time, with a New Zealand Sauvignon. In this way, the excellent products of Campania were combined with wines from all over the world. The wine list, in fact, is extensive, both in terms of terroir, Campanian, Italian, French or other important wine districts, and in terms of depth of vintages. Also very original is the fact that, before the starter, a slice of excellent pizza is served, to testify to the firm gastronomic affiliation to the Campania region. I completed the dinner with an excellent tiramisu with rhubarb and coffee by Gianni Frasi, accompanied by small pastries and a Moscato wine from Piedmont. Before leaving, a brief stop at Bar L'Alcova, to taste Gianni Frasi's coffee (for me the best roaster ever), a fine distillate and express the desire to return here soon.
