Definitely has some of the best japanese food I have had in south africa, although it is a bit pricey. Unagi sushi: 4/5 Tasted great but the texture of the eel was a bit off - Nothing too noticeable Kake udon: -Noodle: 4/5 --Would have preferred it to have been slightly chewier. Otherwise great -Soup:5/5 -- Tastes just like the udon noodle soups in. japan. Well balanced flavor and saltiness Green tea ice cream with red bean paste: - Ice cream 5/5 -- Perfect intensity of green tea flavor - red bean paste 3/5 -- Lacking in the usual texture, flavor and sweetness expected from red bean paste In terms of service, it was slow-ish but did not impact the overall experience. I started living in South Africa in 1993 and then moved overseas in 2007. Yamato Japanese restaurant opened in 1995. When I lived in South Africa, I often went there to dine because the ingredients were fresh and very delicious. Due to the epidemic, I haven’t been to South Africa for 6 years and I’m here again today. I revisited and ate here again. After 29 years, the food in this restaurant is still at the same level as it was 29 years ago. It is delicious and fresh. I am very surprised! Vegetarian options: Freshest ingredients and nice presentation for the food, it’s tasty and delicious! Dietary restrictions: The freshest sushi and Sashimi plus Ramen (Japanese noodles soup with pork meat) Parking: Many parking spaces very safe and convenient Kid-friendliness: The waitress is very kind and help to take good care of children!
