I was at the Social club in Hatfield on Saturday night during Easter weekend 2024. As I was on my way out, a girl approached saying I look like I’m looking for someone. I was actually and she asks for description of my friend. As I was describing her, I was pickpocketed. This girl all of a sudden left me while I was speaking to her and I reached into my bag to look for my phone and it was evidently stolen. I reported to the bouncers who dismissed me and were of no help. After a while of looking for the girl who distracted me while I was pickpocketed, my friend also gets pickpocketed. That’s when I demanded to see the cameras. The manager was very reluctant to let me view the CCTV saying that they are working and cannot attend to me till the next day. I stood my ground until he gave in. As soon as I identified myself in the footage, he switched off the camera and told me he cannot continue. I asked him why since this is the part where we will see who pickpocketed and very much kicked me out of his office and told me to report to the police. Now when I arrived at the police station in Brooklyn, they just asked me where I was and said I’m drunk and therefore I can’t write a statement. There is clearly a syndicate being run in Hatfield as apparently there were many more cellphones stolen. Everyone is involved in it, from bouncers to managers. This establishment just made an already terrible experience even worse. Go to the Social Club Hatfield knowing you will get pickpocketed and no one is exempt.
