ZERO star review We went to Wimpy's Diner on Wellington Rd May 30, 2023, we truly enjoyed breakfast there frequently. We were seated at a booth that backed onto another booth. I noticed a dog sitting on the bench seat behind me a dog with a service animal harness on. I decided to move to another table, I spoke to the waitress quietly and explained that there was a dog sitting on the seat, to which she replied "it was a service animal and nothing we can do" and pointed and said "go sit somewhere else" loudly and extremely rude. We sat across the diner and observed the other patrons talking table to table. We were approached by another waitress and as she was about to take our order, I look over and this dog is now two paws on the table eating directly off table. I said to the waitress "the dog is on the table eating" to which she replied "it is a service dog there is nothing we can do". We promptly left this restataurant and was chased out by the other waitress wanting to know why we were leaving. I called the other location to ask for the Owner/Manager's name and was told I was speaking to the them. I explained to this person what I witnessed and was told the same "line it was a service animal". I made sure I repeated myself to the owner "that you as an owner allow dogs to be on tables and to eat directly off the tables." Again met with the line" it is a service animal". I then told them I was calling the Health Inspectors at MLHU. I did and was told in no uncertain terms that service animals are NOT allowed on tables or to eat off tables, however they may let slide the service animal on the bench seat. The inspector would make go out to the diner and educate the staff. I must add that there was another lady in that diner with a service animal at her feet that day which is totally acceptable.
