Excellent restaurant avec une large offre vegan ! Nous avons testé trois plats VG, tous délicieux. L’ambiance est agréable, le service au top, et en prime, ils ont gentiment gardé mon sac oublié. We were walking through the old town of Amsterdam and chanced upon this Malay restaurant. Since I've been to Kuala Lumpur before, I wanted to try the dishes at this restaurant. Even without a reservation we got a seat in the evening, even though it was already full. The restaurant is small and doesn't have a lot of tables. The menu includes the typical dishes of Malay cuisine, many curries, but also saté. A positive aspect is that many dishes are also available in a vegan version. As a starter, we opted for the vegan saté skewers with peanut sauce. As a main course for a vegan laksa and beef in a thick curry sauce. For drinks we chose a homemade lemonade and watermelon juice. The appetizer was brought after about 20 minutes. There were 4 skewers, each with 5 pieces of vegetables of different kinds. Served with peanut sauce, which was delicious. The main courses came about 25 minutes after the starter. Both dishes tasted great, were not too spicy, but well seasoned. Only the vegan laksa could have used a little more salt. Portion sizes were sufficient to fill up for two with the shared starter. The food is not cheap at just under 20 euros per main course, but the price level in Amsterdam's old town is high overall. We found the price reasonable for the quality. The staff was super friendly and accommodating, always with a smile. All speak good English. All in all, we felt very comfortable in the Wau Malaysian Restaurant and can recommend it unreservedly.
