Since you had my post deleted, here it is again: “BBQ beer garden” that’s an announcement. Who doesn't think of freshly grilled dishes burgers, spare ribs, brisket, or at least that's what the menu on the homepage promises. So it was good to eat delicious spareribs again and we made our way to the beer garden full of anticipation. When we got there, we noticed that everything was a bit chaotic, some things on the board had already been crossed out, e.g. all burgers (except veggie), bratwurst, etc... it was Saturday lunchtime at 2 p.m. on a sunny Saturday, who could have guessed that The beer garden gets full and you have to stock up on something (irony off). There was self-service, which is completely fine in a beer garden. After a short wait, our order was taken. There wasn't much choice left on the board, but we wanted spare ribs anyway, but they're only on the menu on the homepage and not on the board on site. We ordered and also paid. We were then told that there were no spare ribs and that they weren't on the board. So we got our money back and because we were so hungry we at least ordered a few potato wedges. After about 30 minutes, my pager still didn't show that my order (1 portion of wedges) was ready. I asked politely at the issue. Here the wedges were handed to me directly as a courtesy. Unfortunately, they were lukewarm and soggy. A real disaster for almost €5. I can't say anything about the quality of the other dishes. The drinks are good quality. Teinach water, good wine. The staff was friendly, that's why I give it 2 stars. Please get your processes under control and make sure you don't run out of food. You won't see us again any time soon. Maybe we'll give the BBQ beer garden a second chance at some point and see if anything has improved. Service: Dine in Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 2

Story: We (couple) have known this place for a long time. In the 1970s, we went umpteen times together with our child and parents-in-law to what was then Waldheim for cake and coffee in the afternoon. Now: Now that this location has reopened, three of us have visited the Waldgasthof Schmellbachtal. This facility is now privately owned and is called the Waldgasthof. General: We visited this forest inn in May last year. The weather was very good and there were around 30 people at tables outside the restaurant. Other people stayed with children at the playground equipment and in the meadows. The house is currently being renovated. Our experiences: First of all, no internet reception is possible in this forest area/inn due to the topographical location. It is self-service (SB) in the inn. First of all, this is not objectionable, since this is also common in other inns (e.g. Bärenschlössle, Katzenbacher Hof). What is unpleasant, however, is that you get the food in cardboard boxes. It would be nice to get a plate. Our Food: There were fries (although they were very, very dark and about half were soft and greasy). The fries were in a cardboard bowl just like the mayo and the ketchup in the other 2. cardboard bowl. By the way, the mayo was homemade and really excellent/recommended. You can get your hands on red sausage or bratwurst in a bun. Service like at a kiosk. You can only get burgers with a napkin in your hand. Result: Hands and arms full of gravy, table full of gravy, pants full of gravy. (Too bad) Certainly one saves plates, but at a GASTHOF in my opinion at least one plate is the minimum - right?? In my opinion, amounts of waste are also produced with cardboard lids and cardboard trays. A plate goes in the dishwasher and doesn't create any waste either. What was missing from the menu at the time: (Quickly prepared food could be served on a plate): Sausage salad/Swiss sausage salad with bread Goulash soup with bread Bratwurst or Leberkäse slice with potato salad cheese bread Cake (fruit cake) = as an accompaniment to coffee Beverages: Apple spritzer is only available ready-to-use in a 0.33l bottle with a drinking straw. 0.5 l (e.g. apple juice or Joha. juice spritzer in a jug) does not exist. Wine spritzer is only available in 0.25 l wine glasses. Prices: French fries with mayo in a cardboard cover 5.00 EURO. (At every kiosk (where self-service is) it is cheaper and here the location is not called a kiosk but a GASTHOF !! Our conclusion: The area is nice and quiet and there are enough seats/tables. However, unless there are any changes or changes, we will not visit the inn again. SB = self-service
