So pathetic that it was hilarious. We sat for a drink and bite in the outdoor area and waited some 15 minutes (not) to be noticed by the staff (3 young girls strolling casually, randomly approaching one table of many waiting, chatting together or just eating fries at the "pass-through" window). Once explicitely asked for attention, we eventually got served our drinks and a "borrelplank", with not a single napkin or table picks for the fingerfood, seems a Dutch standard though. This is a trendy and stylish restaurant on the ground floor of the legendary Vesting Hotel (translated as fortress), which is located in the heart of the beautiful walled city of Naarden. This building was built in 1913 in traditionalist forms on behalf of the municipality of Naarden and served as a police station and vocational school. The building hosted exhibitions, but also stored archives. This beautiful building with a gable roof, transverse frames with half-windows and decorative anchors is classified as Neo-Renaissance. There is a spacious terrace so you can enjoy your favorite meals with a breathtaking view of the historic center of Naarden and the large basilica cruciform church Sint-Vituskerk (or Grote Kerk 1380-1518). Restaurant Vesting Lounge is a place where creativity and culinary excellence come together. There is an incredible team of professionals working here, they are super friendly, which gives a family atmosphere to the visitors of the establishment. The owner of the establishment, Wachter Muller, greeted us in the most welcoming and friendly manner, it was very pleasant! Combined with professional service, you will receive first-class dishes with new flavors and matching wines from an extensive wine list in a relaxed atmosphere. I very liked the cocktails here, especially the classic mojito Enjoying this incredibly refreshing sweet and sour taste with hints of mint, I admired from the window the Mannerist facades of the Town Hall and its ancient sandstone cross windows. This cultural and historical landmark, with a double-stepped gable in the Dutch Renaissance style, was built in 1601 and is located across the street from the restaurant. The charming atmosphere, friendly staff and magnificent views of the ancient city make Vestiging a place you always want to return to.
