Took my mom here for the first time, we both have lived in Toronto for over 25 years and love food.....Vela is now our favourite spot in King W as this was one of the best meal/dining experiences we ever had (Best king W for sure). We choose the tasting menu by Chef Marvin and OMG it was delicious, perfectly rounded, FILLING, and perfectly composed meal (it was to die for). Sandy was our waitress and her energy and personality also made the evening it was the perfect compliment to the food. Nothing beats amazing food and phenomenal service with a great ambiance, 5 stars across the board!

My friends and I went for a birthday dinner on March 1st (group of 6), we were sat in the middle of the restaurant which was great but the service was terrible and nobody seemed to want to attend to us. Our waitress was Rachel (long brown hair and tattoos on her arms), I strongly don't not recommend her. Reservation was at 9pm, whole party arrived by 9:30pm, we go drinks in the first 15minutes and also put in our Dinner orders. By 1015pm, we still had not received our dinner and nobody was updating us, our waitress rachel was servicing everyone else around us but us. We had ordered pasta and fish. We called her over, we were very polite and professional and asked her how long the food was gunna be, she just glanced at the kitchen and said a few more minutes. By 1030pm, we noticed that our waitress had attended to every else siting around us and they were leaving, customers that had came after us. We called her over again to ask about the food and that's when she said she never put in the order and just did at 1030pm. I believe me and friends were being racially profiled because we were the only group of black friends that were there that never got attended to.Rachel never came into check in with us after she took the dinner order, we had to keep calling over. It's not like she could say she forgot about us, we were literally sitting in the middle and she had customers all around us. We decided to leave because we were all starving and wanted to savage what was left of my friends birthday and thats when the manager came to talk us about what had happened. The damage had already been done , we could not wait any longer and we could see Rachel smirking in the back. I have never received this kind of treatment and I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. We never got anything to eat from 9:30pm to when we left almost 11pm.
