Good morning everyone. My friend the lawyer Luigi Fallucchi suggested having lunch in Barletta at the Al Vecchio Forno restaurant, frequented by my friend for 25 years, that is to say since they worked in another characteristic restaurant before they moved. He had no words to describe the quality of the dishes prepared, the professionalism and courtesy of the two brothers. My first impact when I arrived on site was a pleasant sensation for two reasons: the first because in front of the entrance there is the De Nittis palace, with a large door and a balcony surmounted by capitals and other very beautiful relief sculptures , the other reason is that on the sandblasted glass of the entrance door of the venue, you can read beautiful quotes from Shakespeare, a unique and fantastic mental aperitif of architectural culture and essays. As soon as we entered the corridor adjacent to the ground floor room, my friend was recognized and greeted despite his long absence due to the pandemic. The welcome and courtesy pervaded my soul, making me feel truly at ease. During lunch Tommaso was uniquely helpful, which denotes their simplicity and naturalness in welcoming customers, making them feel at home. They made us sit at our friend Luigi's usual table and what can we say friends...... An unforgettable lunch began with an infinite number of unique appetizers, tasty, well cooked, balanced in the combinations of ingredients and sauces accompanied by a very good Mionetto prosecco sparkling wine. After the 9 excellent appetizers and tartare and the fried food we moved on to tastings (as we were already fully satisfied with the rich and tasty appetizers). I also had an excellent, very varied raw meat, together with their flagship product: the mushroom and bacon terrine. Then we moved on to tasting the 4 first courses, delicious cheese and pepper flakes with tuna tartare, spaghetti with cuttlefish ink, spaghetti with clams and the legendary spaghetti with seafood carbonara which in my opinion is truly their strong point , with a crazy aftertaste of bacon which in reality was explained to me to be expertly browned smoked salmon with a deceptive sauce which visually looks like egg cream, delicious and delicate, but in reality it is ginger, pepper and pasta cooking water. Luigi didn't manage to eat the first courses, nor did I, except for this dish which I devoured despite being full and satisfied by the many tastings and their tastes. I won't list all the starters that deserve the best thanks to the great professionalism of the chef (I'll post some photos to give you an idea). Appreciation goes to the waiters at the table who replace the water without even asking them, the plates for the appetizers, the cutlery, the napkin which did not have time to fall to the floor due to my distraction and was replaced, even the coffee which it had gone cold, due to the time it took to slowly enjoy the flavors and their aftertaste on the palate, a delicacy. A note of sympathy goes to the little boy, Carlo, the owner's nephew, with a perpetual smile, always ready to ask if we needed anything, very kind in helping to write me a list (unusual and unpleasant request on my part, I didn't want to forget anything about that lunch). The other brother, the owner, a nice person, concise, kind enough to be vigilant and attentive to the needs of his guests, a person of professional depth and pleasant for a greeting conversation. The price is absolutely inferior to the quality of the dishes. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: €60–70
