Visited The Place at their new location and had an absolute blast. First our waitress was very helpful and entertaining and 2nd the food was great! Had the Mykonos Pizza and chased it with chocolate cake slice to polish it all off. Was my 3rd visit here and I'll be back.....in this week most likely hahhahaa.

I have visited this restaurant four times - once at their previous venue, and three times at the Newlands locale. The service is ok, but the servers are rough around the edges & need proper training. The food however, is terrible. Tasteless, mostly served cold, uninspiring, with several menu items served with ‘their own twist’. Big mistake. Why mess with a proven, traditional item! Scotch eggs with gravy is one example. A steak roll is NOT sliced minute steak! Their menu is far too large and this is where they collapse. Instead of focusing on a smaller variety but preparing them well, they have a massive repertoire, but execute all badly. Focus on 10 or do items, and fully focus on those. Also, the grammar & spelling of the menu, is about as good as grade 5 learners. The previous owners had bad service, but their food quality was definitely better & more palatable. I don’t believe that the current owners are nearly qualified restaurateurs. They may be busy now, but discerning diners won’t hang around after 2 or 3 visits.

Excellent service and delicious food. Always enjoy eating at The Place. The set menu has a variety of meals to choose from at a reasonable price and the waiters are always friendly.
