Classic British Fish and chippy. We had the Haddock and Chips which was a healthy portion. We also had mushy peas which where rather bland (I've lived in Britain and these mushy peas here where no comparison to actual mushy peas that are served across the pond.) The service was ok and the atmosphere was "Classic" I felt like I was in a small British town simply for the fact that the place was alive with Brits. Which is a good sign in my opinion. One thing was we had a gluten allergy in our group and the fryers are not gluten free and being a place that only uses a deep fryer for their food and saying they are "gluten friendly" really didn't add up for us. All in all a great stop. 4 simply because the fryers are not gluten friendly. Price per person: $20–30 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Recommended dishes: Haddock and Chips

I really don’t know where to start with today’s experience from start to finish it was A star! I called the chippy beforehand to find out if the chips were proper chippy chips and my gosh kid you not they were the real deal literally- so please ignore the reviews that say the chips here are like fries or soggy because they are 100% not! Like seriously why do people write such comments, do they even know the difference between fries and chippy chips? I spoke to Nicole on the phone who was so helpful, cheerful and just chatting with her I felt like I knew her she was so friendly, we have a 2year old and initially was going to get a takeout but Nicole suggested on the phone why not sit in! And I’m so glad we did- the service was 5* top notch! All of the staff were amazing but especially Nicole who served us she was so accommodating with my child, and with our order! We arrived around 7.15pm and sat in one of the booths and Nicole made it all super comfortable for us bringing colours and a high chair for the little one. We ordered cod and chips, fish bites and chips, mushy peas, gravy, bread and butter and 3 British pops irnbru, D&B and vimto! I have been in Canada for nearly two years and actually live in Vancouver, we’re up in Calgary visiting just for the week- and let me tell you I have not had fish and chips and the sides like this anywhere else in Canada in fact the chips I don’t think you can even get anywhere like how they were made and served here! I never really have the time to write reviews but I really took my time out here because it was a must with the experience and food I had today at the the British chippy ltd today- I’m going back again on Friday & Saturday before we leave to go back to Vancouver! The owners story I read on their website who I believe are from Wigan well I’m actually originally from Bolton so I know what a good chippy is and for use to bring a proper British chippy to Canada I salute you guys! I used to love the chippy back in Britain and miss it a lot living in Canada now, so unless you’re thinking of opening one in Vancouver I may just have to think about moving to Calgary! That’s how good this place is, 200% worth a visit and trust me you’ll become a regular the food is delicious I know this is a super long review for those of use reading it but I literally could go on even more, so let me wrap up! Bottom line if you want a good chippy dinner get yourself down to this chippy, the prices are really decent cheap compared to a lot of other places that don’t even know what real fish and chips are, the portions are big and the service was impeccable! Chips where fluffy and crisp on the outside and you could just taste the quality of the potato the real deal proper ingredients trust me being British I know a good potato and the fish was crispy and oh my delicious! The owners weren’t there this evening themselves who id love to meet maybe when I visit on Friday and Saturday evening I may get chance to say hello to them either way your staff is a credit to you especially Nicole she was just so brilliant! Thanks guys for making my evening with the best chippy in Calgary and Vancouver as there nothing like this in BC! The couple from Vancouver with a wee toddler! Thank you so much for the lovely review. We really appreciate your wonderful comments. We love our chips but understand that someone looking for French fries might be a bit confused by a British Chip! LOL And Nicole is amazing and we are fortunate to have her on our team. She has been with us for about 7 years now. Sorry we missed you, my husband was working at the other location. Thank you again and we look forward to meeting you, next time you are in town
