A visit to 'Tanara' in Kleefeld always awakens nostalgic feelings in me, because I associate this Cypriot restaurant with many fond memories of spending Wednesdays with my dear colleagues. Over the years, 'Tanara' has undergone several changes, both in ownership and in ambience and offerings. The rustic dishes from the early years, when there were still vouchers and stews in clay pots, have given way to more modern and more delicately flavored cuisine. The menu has become smaller and some of the traditional dishes are missing or have been changed. Today's atmosphere at 'Tanara' is much more modern and inviting than before, although the menu leaves a certain longing for the familiar. In particular, I miss the traditional yogurt that used to be an integral part of the dining experience. However, the baked feta starter and the tender veal liver continue to demonstrate the quality and skill in the kitchen, even if the nostalgic charm of the past has been somewhat lost. Although the restaurant was quite empty when we visited, which may be partly due to the current economic situation, the service remained friendly and courteous. However, I was a little disappointed by the dessert that was declared as homemade, which was clearly a Coppenrath and Wiese cake. This marred the experience slightly, although overall it can be considered forgivable. Overall, 'Tanara' offers a fine, if modernized, dining experience that is far from bad, but still leaves me with a certain longing for the rustic authenticity and, above all, the delicious yogurt. For anyone looking for a more modern take on Cypriot cuisine, ‘Tanara’ is certainly worth a visit. Despite the changes and the slightly higher price level, it remains a place with potential for wonderful moments - even if I personally wish my beloved yogurt would find its way back onto the menu."
