Absolute perfection! We arrived well before check in time and we were greeted by Maria who offered us prosecco and allowed us into our room well before the official check in time. Service was top notch Mara made dinner reservations for us and was at our disposal. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful including hot items like omelette made to order. We enjoyed an aperitif each night enjoying their homemade wine right from their own vineyards. This hotel is impeccably clean, pristine and serene with BREATHTAKING views. There is beautiful music playing and everything smells so fresh. I was initially worried that my children would be too loud since it is a luxury hotel but we were never made to feel that they were a burden the staff was super friendly and accommodating. The pool is idyllic with a backdrop of the sea. We have traveled to many european islands and stayed at many luxury resorts (in Santorini, Mallorca, Corsica etc) and Tenuta C’est La Vie was Top Notch! The most beautiful hotel in Ischia and in the wonderful and sought after location of Forio. Don’t believe any review that is less than 5 stars or 10/10. You would be so lucky to stay here. I am already dreaming about our trip back. Service: 5

[Update: Providing a factual summary of events, following the property’s response to my review Suggesting that I "arrived with my credit card not working" is inaccurate. Per standard practice, the online booking was made with a credit card guarantee, after which the property confirmed the reservation. It's true an employee chased the taxi after check out, startling the driver and I. While checking out, I asked staff twice if I needed to sign anything at reception, and was told twice “no, it’s okay, we have your card from the online booking” and "check-out is finished". 5 mins later, after the taxi departed, a staff member chased the car. When I got out, the staff apologized and clarified they would need me to sign the invoice / charge my card in-person. I said no problem, and came in to do this. There was an initial error with the machine (card is from Canada), but the charge went through on a second try. The staff member apologized again. She explained that the miscommunication was internal as normally, the property collects the full room charges on arrival, but since I wasn’t given a proper check-in, this wasn’t done. She also wanted me to double-check the 3 euro mini-bar charge. If staff believed I was attempting to vacate the property without paying, it is odd that they took responsibility for stopping the taxi and apologized to me, and have not made this -- very serious -- allegation until now/in response to a negative review.] +++ I’m a female solo traveller and booked 6 nights at C’est La Vie. I envisioned wandering the vineyards, reading by the pool, using the beautiful open-air gym, and trying some fresh local food. I.e. a relaxing stay, enjoying my first visit to Ischia. My experience was not this. The place is not good value-for-money, and it’s generally an unclean and not well-maintained property. But honestly, I could’ve gotten over that. What made me decide to leave early was the confusingly hostile service I received, starting at check in, for which no advance instructions were provided. The property even temporarily lost my luggage for 2 hours after arrival, initially denying I had any/accusing the taxi driver of taking it. Check-in consisted of an orientation on the hot tub jets, then leaving without giving me the room key (it appeared a while later). Certainly no “glass of Prosecco” on arrival, unlike a recent reviewer. Would’ve been interested in doing some sort of tasting or vineyard tour, but was not told me about any of these, or about any amenities. Innocent questions (“what is the wifi?”) were met with angry and accusatory responses from the staff, who seemed to constantly want to argue, which I found exhausting and frankly confusing/weird. Startlingly: while lying in bed, the evening of check in and morning after, an employee came banging on my door/window (direct view onto my bed). Ideally a phone could be installed in the room, for staff to call guests before attempting to gain entry to the room (in the meantime.. WhatsApp?). At minimum, staff should not peer into guest rooms while they’re in bed. I was travelling solo but I can see how this would be awkward for couples as well. Staff seemed fixated on the fact I was travelling solo, including by seating me at a table in the back each morning with only one chair. Not ideal from a safety perspective, as it signals to other guests and contractors when someone is travelling alone. Later, a staff member proactively removed the second / unused beach towel from my closet. When I asked if I could have a second towel, I was told only if I "needed" it. When I emailed asking to shorten my stay (without telling them why just too exhausted), staff started gossiping in a WhatsApp group chat that I guess they create for each room, and I guess they forgot I was in though I was added late. They tried to delete the message but the damage was done/I'd already read it. It’s a pity really, the property has so much potential! Read the property’s response to other guest reviews, and draw your own conclusions about staff professionalism/conduct...
