Starbucks hit South Africa like a whirlwind in April 2016 and is celebrating their first Christmas in this beautiful country. Appetite for Zest was one of the lucky guests to be invited to the launch of special, festive, limited edition Starbucks treats.
This launch was at the Mall of Africa, Starbucks
On arrival at the launch, a unique and interesting band was playing. Their music was different but very special. On closer inspection, we were amazed to discover that the band played purely off recycled materials. Getting back to the juicy bits.
It was incredibly hot and Starbucks supplied the perfect refreshing drink for all the guests. It was the Starbucks Mango and Passion fruit juice. Absolutely delicious.
The Ginger Bread Latte and Frappucino was the first festive season treat on the menu. Due to the extreme heat, only the frappucino was tasted. It literally tasted like a Ginger Bread biscuit, and was divine! It was rather sweet but having a sweet-tooth, there were no complaints. You must definitely try this.
The Toffee Nut Frappucino was tasted next! This was the flavour that I looked forward to least, however it was the best tasting! Nutty and full of flavour! It tasted incredible and I could have had another one! This was my favourite drink of the evening!
Alongside the drinks were small tasting portions of Starbucks savouries and sweets.
The savouries were surprisingly delicious, never had I previously thought of having lunch at a Starbucks branch. The Gammon croissants were out of this world and I have had cravings since!
On the sweet side of life, the favourites of the evening had to be the Candy Cane Brownies, the chocolate Yule Cake and lastly, the Cranberry White Chocolate Cookies. Treat yourself and try them ALL!
Overall it was a wonderful evening, full of flavour and absolutely tasty! Starbucks has definitely been an asset to the South African cafe industry.
