This place was recommended to me by a friend, so having never heard of Splendid Chicken I was intrigued enough to try them out, and in the end I am happy I did. The place is a typical fast food joint, nothing special to make it stand out from the rest, in fact if you were to take down the signage you would have no idea where you were other than any one of the various fast food franchises which litter the globe. The menu is rather limited, and certainly not the most varied we had ever seen. In fact when viewing the options on the self ordering panel, we tried to scroll down and was somewhat surprised to find we couldn't. What we could see is all that they had in any given section. BUT, there is always a but, what there is on offer is some genuine, well cooked, fried chicken. While at first I felt a little let down by the coating (its crispy but not overly flavoursome) I found the chicken itself to be perfectly cooked and certainly not as greasy as a certain American fried chicken outlet. We had a bucket of chicken with some spicy pieces inside and they were indeed spicy, and the chips (fries) were perfectly cooked and tasty. The kids had burgers which they said were enjoyable even though the bread looked extremely soggy. Overall, even though we found the menu limiting, the food was enjoyable and definitely a step up from the bearded colonel that presides in most malls. Unfortunately though they only serve Pepsi! Why, I have no idea, I truly cannot fathom why anyone would choose the great pretender over genuine Coca Cola. The taste difference is like comparing fresh spring water to raw sewage. Other than serving Pepsi, Splendid Chicken is certainly worth trying. Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures before we ate, but here's a picture of the bucket just show we were actually there.
