We were guests at the Sonnenhof restaurant several times as we stayed in the Apartment Hotel Sonnenhof. My wife chose "Filet goulash Stroganov" and was so impressed by the taste that she didn't want to try anything else. I tried it too and it was really great because, as we found out when we asked, it was flambéed with Calvados. I tried several things and ended up with "Pallatschinken", which is not ham as I, an ignorant Berliner, thought, but egg tart with apricot jam and sprinkled with powdered sugar. I was briefly irritated because I was expecting something different, but it was very tasty and I ordered it again on other days. I was a little disappointed with the cheese platter and Tyrolean ham platter, as the ham platter in particular offers no variety. On the cheese platter I would have liked other types of cheese, not Gouda, wild garlic and Camembert, but rather the courage to offer more local mountain cheese. The bread that came with it was really fresh, soft and delicious. The side salad, well, you could have left it out, but instead put fresh vegetables on a plate. Yesterday evening I tried a "Hungarian goulash soup", which was without a doubt sublimely delicious and tasted great. But in my opinion the waiters/service are the real highlight, if you give them the chance to shine, for example if you go there a second time (or more), you will be recognized with a smile and you will notice if there is something wrong with the food That's how the guest (in this case our daughter Sally, who didn't like the spaghetti Bolognese one time, it tasted good the day before...) where they honestly try to please her. I.e. They offered to book out the spaghetti and in return she got Kaiserschmarrn. That's how service works! Please keep it up, you're a great team. In the end I have to say, I certainly didn't like everything, but it doesn't always have to be the restaurant/or. Cook, because sometimes you have different expectations. We would definitely come here again on our next vacation in Kössen. Thumbs up for you, and the small talk with you was good too ! Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4
