My first visit to Simply Delicious was Simply Disappointing. I honestly have no clue how this place has 4 stars. Given the lack of actual written reviews, I'm going to assume the score comes from people who've never gone to a proper Indian buffet. When my friend and I walked in, no one was there to greet us and direct us to a table. It honestly seemed like they were either getting ready to close for the day or the restaurant was strictly operating for a private event as the only customers there were a group of around 10 people. One of the employees who was sitting and eating at a table (probably taking a break) noticed us and came over to tell us to basically sit wherever we want. When we got to the actual buffet space, it was quite disappointing due to the lack of options. The food itself was just ok but I've been to small buffets before and at least they've got the usual staples you always look forward to trying. Maybe the lunch buffet is better compared to dinner but for the price I'm paying, I want to have enough options I can indulge in otherwise there's no point in coming here. The buffet items were also not labelled so unless I can recognize the food, I have no clue what I'm eating and would be less willing to try it (due to dietary restrictions for example) which reduces options even more. They had an entire buffet table that was completely empty. There were only 2 dessert options although there was an ice cream freezer but it seemed like it wasn't being used. There was a small table with chai so my friend tried to get some and someone from the group informed him it was only for them which was honestly really awkward. Maybe the staff should've explained this to us? Also, although this isn't necessarily their fault, you have to leave the restaurant to use the washroom which is inconvenient and one could easily just go home without paying so that's something they should reconsider. While my friend and I were there, a woman who I assume is involved in management, noticed we were not quite satisfied with our experience. Not only did we receive a kabob dish they said was part of the buffet (which I doubt) but they also brought us chai due to the aforementioned incident my friend had. This was honestly quite surprising and I genuinely appreciate that she tried to make our visit better, which is why I would give Simply Delicious another chance, but overall it was still a lackluster experience especially when compared to other buffets. Realistically, if you do compare this to other Indian buffets, it's just nowhere near as good. As I mentioned, I would give Simply Delicious another chance but it's hard to say when that'll be given there are other buffets, literally 5 minutes away, that are just so much better. The price is fine but I expect a good amount of options otherwise it should be closer to $20 because I feel like they're going to have a rough time unless they improve. I've been to one place before that was in a similar situation and not too long after my review giving them this exact same feedback, they ended up responding saying they’re closing the buffet (see my Google review I did for an Indian restaurant in Aurora). Saving money is great but I'd rather go somewhere more expensive where I can actually have an all-you-can-eat buffet experience that has better service, more options, and higher quality of food. But maybe that’s just me.
