UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT! We ordered the family platter and it was delicious! Very fresh! It was for 5 people and we had LOTS of leftovers. Highly recommend this place!

I want to start by saying how nice the new management seems to be. They are very kind, and the service is great. That said, I really hope they can make a few improvements to the food. My main complaint is with the chicken plate I ordered. It was $22, and the container was only half full - most Shawarma places in the area pack it full, and you can easily feed 2 people. The rice was pretty much plain - no spices at all. The hummus was also very thin and bland - maybe canned chick peas, or they’re skimping on the oil and tahini? The potatoes were very plain but were at least hot and fresh. The chicken was actually very good, except for the small portion. I also wanted to get a mixed plate, but they were out of beef at 5pm on a week day. I’ll probably be back again because the location is convenient, but hopefully there are some improvements! On October 19th my wife and I stopped at Shwarma Place for lunch. We had been here before most recently in early September. At the time there were a limited number of tables inside the restaurant. The food was adequate. This time there were no tables available. As we were paying I asked the fellow who seemed to be in charge why the change, he said because he wasn't going to check anybody's vaccine status, that this was none of his business, and then unloaded a bundle of anti-vaccine nonsense such as vaccines do not prevent transmission, they are ineffective after 6 months and so on. We then noticed that he wasn't wearing a mask while preparing food and standing right next to another worker who was masked. We became upset and somewhat angry that we were put in a potentially danger situation. We googled the place and found other recent reviews with the same complaint. I have called both the OPP and the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit to report what we consider to be an infraction of the COVID-19 restrictions. We certainly will never frequent Shwarma Place again and advise others to consider their own health before entering this place.
