This small but cozy restaurant offers up some of the best, fast and reasonably priced meals in Winnipeg. I have been here serval times and most pleased with all the times I've been here except for today, Wednesday, May 4,2022. Today I went with my sister and we both ordered sandwiches for lunch. I asked for some onion on my clubhouse sandwich. I was NOT told that there would be an extra charge for the onion. When I went to pay I asked our server, tall blonde woman, who must have been having a bad day. What the "99" cent charge was for and she said the onion you ordered for your sandwich. I said I wasn't told about an additional cost. She snapped and said well it doesn't come with the sandwich, you have to pay for it do you think we get the onions for free. I was so taken back by her rudeness. I said "no" but most places don't charge you for one or two rings of raw onion on your burger (sandwich). I said you should have told me or it should have been on the menu. She told me that all restaurants charge for extra onions. Well no they don't next time I go back to the Seine River Cafe I will be armed with this knowledge, I am still very offended by the way she treated me. She should not be serving the public with an attitude like hers. I hope the management reads this review. I will be telling people about the way I was treated. I will go back but will ask to be seated where she is not serving. Didn't even come back to ask us how our meal was or if we wanted more coffee for $2.99 a cup. Given refills by another waitress. I am not a child.
