We stopped at San Calo by sheer chance after having been driving around a while looking for somewhere to eat. Calogero, or Gero as he introduces himself, and his wife were a delight. Kind and good souls whose goodness is matched only by the gorgeous food they put on offer. Gero welcomed a large group of us at an otherwise calm time of the day and was not only happy to serve us some "tavolo calda" items that were beautifully displayed in his counter but also offered to switch his pizza oven on and make us any pizza we liked. We ordered one margherita and let him surprise us with another three. Everything was a delight! Genuine food; a true Sicilian experience. A definite must! Pay this family run business a visit and you won't regret it.

Where do I start... but since my arrival in Agrigento, not for holiday but for work... Not knowing the city, I asked where I could taste typical Sicilian products, I was shown a bakery in the city center "San Calo' 2". Even though I wasn't so convinced, I still told myself to try, well I'll tell you my doubts were immediately overthrown by the delicious arancini, the fantastic miscatine, dumplings, fried calzones and all the other rotisserie products. But San caló 2 is also excellent for a lunch break, there I had the opportunity to consume typical Sicilian dishes cooked with true skill. Well, I'll tell you one thing, if you happen to pass through Agrigento, take a look at San caló 2... seeing is believing... ah, I forgot one important thing, you will be welcomed by two wonderful people who, in addition to knowing how to do their job excellently, with their kindness and friendliness they immediately put the customer at ease, advising them on the products... thanks Gero and Teresa.
