Sam Sushi.... what a great spot. Very quaint nice little restaurant tucked into the main floor corner at 214 place in Grande Prairie. Obviously, it was date night, so we decided to come to town for some sushi as we hadn't been since our last anniversary over a yr ago. We read the regular little nit pick reviews and decided Sams would be the spot tonight. Now, I don't usually judge others on their reviews , but what I can say the negative ones were wrong, this is a beautiful little restaurant, a very nice atmosphere, and you can actually talk to the person in front of you. We have been to a few other spots that have had ok sushi, but we felt rushed to eat and leave. Not here!! We ordered some beautiful dishes, not knowing the portion sizes... lol wow . Regular starters .. gyoza and tempura shrimp, spring rolls... man, they were fresh and hot!! And came out in a very timely fashion. Regular dish, I believe we ordered the favorites combo, who knew deep fried sweet potato fries went into a sushi roll!!! ... lol From the raw menu, it was the tuna with pineapple rolls.. Wow what a beautiful combination of flavor without the smack in the pallet of raw tuna!!! Nicely done, Sam!! We were a very happy couple with our date night @samssushi. No complaints here, folks!! what a wonderful spot!! Portions were unbelievable. We couldn't finish any other than the starters, lol. Funny story the Saskatoon rolls were from when Sam used to teach Sushi classes out at Saskatoon Lake. Sam rolls... salmon, avocado, and mango... Hahaha, he said it was from a long time ago.. as we all laughed at our ages, Sam was a very humble man and happy to have a delightful conversation with his patrons after a meal. We will definitely be back. And cheaper than a movie date!! All in, we were only $68. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $30–40 Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5
