Hello Samukelisiwe We appreciate you taking the time to review us. We are upset to hear about your experience! …Hello Samukelisiwe We appreciate you taking the time to review us. We are upset to hear about your experience! As the owner I took it upon myself to personally investigate your complaint. Racism in SA is actually a Criminal Offence and should be treated as such! You spoke of being ‘treated differently’ because of your skin colour? You spoke of other customers with the same skin colour getting up and walking out because of the same treatment?! We trust that you have proof of this being the case? That you actually spoke to those customers and got their feedback before accusing our staff of racism? According to my investigation, the other customers left because they were looking for alcohol and we are not licensed, so they opted to go somewhere that was selling alcohol? Regarding your experience. There were three waiters on duty during the ‘election day’ service. All three are Zulu speaking and Zulu by nationality. You were served by Thobile, she’s been with us for several years, is very well known, loved by both her peers and many customers. It is very distressing for us to hear that there was racial bias against you and your guest during the meal. You were sitting with your cousin, we know this because he actually asked Thobile for her number to take her out! They have subsequently been in contact since your experience and he was unaware of any ‘racist’ treatment as described in your review?! Your meals were a Rocket Brie Chook Open Sandwich and a Spicy Crust Steak Open Sandwich. The Rocket Brie Chook is a cold sandwich, the chicken is hot but the Avo and Brie cheese are served at room temp. You asked the staff to warm it up which they did, although the dish is not actually served like that. Overall, the manager on duty - Ntombi also remembers your table (32) and she was the person who you paid on your way out. She says that she asked you how everything went and both yourself and your cousin were happy?! Nothing was brought to our attention other than the fact that you wanted your open sandwich to be hot; which our team did for you. They served you water upon arrival, you received your cappuccino’s and the two meals shortly thereafter. It’s very sad to hear that your version of events relating to your experience at our restaurant is different from both our team and your cousin’s. Should you have actual proof of Racism that our Zulu staff acted upon towards other Zulu customers, we would obviously condemn that in the strongest form and take appropriate actions to remedy the situation.
