We had dinner with my girlfriend on a Saturday evening in November, as we entered they welcomed us in the best way, with very important customer care and attention. The place immediately seemed very nice and well kept, with a noteworthy selection of wines and a very varied menu. We ate a first course and a meat with porcini mushrooms and drank a local wine recommended by the dining room staff who matched our tastes! Absolutely recommended! Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: €30–40 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

The staff were extremely unhelpful and unwilling. Muttering insults thinking we didn't understand since we’re foreigners. Complete disappointment.

"The best Fish Soup I've ever eaten." This recommendation from my mother mustn't be neglected. Well, we better should have. The obvious decline in quality, after my parents visited " Ristorante Il Cantuccio" twenty years ago, was a harsh experience.Obnoxious, uncommitted service, which will never ever see us return. Mediocre food would be a fair compliment.Even if I would prefer to not remember this unpleasantness, I somehow feel obliged to do so in detail to warn others:To be fair, my girlfriend and I were the first guests of the evening and we just came from a nearby beach to Marina di Campo but all this we did because of the former mentioned recommendation. Our priority was to get a glimpse of this highly claimed cuisine. And so we did: I cautiously asked if the two of us could get a table. The waiter apparently wasn’t pleased - the Restaurant was open, but maybe he wasn’t too happy with our appearence: yes, we came from the beach but we changed our clothes to something appropriate. So he sent us away for 10 minutes. Our guess was that the kitchen wasn’t ready. If this may have been the case, I’m certainly more used to a waiter who proposes Aperitifs for the meantime.Anyhow, we still weren’t scared "away", so we returned after 15 minutes to an even lesser pleased waiter. To our surprise he let us chose a table. So our appearance may not been the problem.In kind words: He was eager to serve us fast. While we were reading the menu, the waiters weren’t to shy to talk about us behind our backs. I admit our Italian is bad, but you didn’t need to understand (all) the words to understand their resentment.Don’t ever dare to ask what the "Fish of the day" is, if you want to spare yourself from the sheer contempt.The Food was served and it wasn’t worth all the troubles we put our selves through. The disgusting part for me wasn’t the mediocre food but the "hidden" laughter my girlfriend had to endure because she didn’t like to eat the baked fish as a whole but to cut the flesh from its Bones. Needles to say she didn’t finish her meal after this incident. But this didn’t stop the waiter to ask amused if there was something wrong with the fish. Normally we would finish our multi-course dinners with at least a coffee and a Digestif, but at this Point it was just too much to swallow already.We left with a lousy tip and a certainty that we won’t be coming back.
