We had high expectations of the restaurant, especially after the recommendations, and were initially not disappointed. The menu sounded promising, and the food itself, especially the cordon bleu (the fries could have been bathed in oil a little longer), was down-to-earth, good and absolutely fair in price. However, the service unfortunately left a lot to be desired (with one exception). As soon as we sat down, we had to wait longer until someone even took our order (the first round of drinks, however, was taken as soon as we sat down). Then it took almost an hour until the starter (soups and salads, which could certainly be prepared) and another hour until the main course was served. During this waiting time it was difficult to even draw attention to us, for example to order new drinks (these were then only taken by a few people before disappearing behind the counter again). A particular problem was the (time) management in the service: While a friendly and committed service person did the best and felt like she managed the entire store alone (thanks for that!), the rest of the team was of little help. Behind the counter there was mostly waiting to serve drinks. Instead of serving them directly, they were handed over to the dedicated service person who handled all the tasks alone anyway. Another person in service - presumably the landlady herself - seemed busy checking the orders before leaving the restaurant early. The chaos was also noticeable at other tables: guests brought their dishes back themselves or asked for the bill directly at the counter when leaving for other guests. We left the restaurant after a total of three hours - unfortunately disappointed, but also full. The restaurant really has potential, but the service desperately needs improvement. With better organization and a motivated team, this could be a really nice place. We hope that this is being worked on. Then we would be happy to come back. Hopefully that was the exception today. For everyone who has the time, a recommendation for solid food. Food OK, noisy restaurant, not enough staff We were at the Restaurant zur Alten Lorze on a Friday evening, which had a lot of guests. The garden area was also open. For the two - extremely friendly and hard-working - service employees, this was unfortunately an almost impossible task: too many guests, not enough staff. With more staff the service would certainly have been quicker. The restaurant is relatively small and VERY loud when all the tables are occupied. The hard surfaces (floor, ceiling, walls) additionally reflect/amplify the sound. A pleasant conversation at normal volume was hardly possible. The food (venison schnitzel garnished) was okay, although a bit carelessly prepared. Nothing special, but not really a cause for complaint either. However, I have to say that I have eaten much better game including side dishes in other places (for example in the Gasthaus Rössli in Adligenswil) The prices are OK (for Zug conditions). I agree with you that there is not enough staff for the number of people doing the burring. We will look at it as a team and expand it/make adjustments. On the subject of noisy bars, I think you have an interesting opinion. And finally about the cuisine and prices. We're pleased that you think the price is okay. We will also sit together in the kitchen and look at the serving. But we are pleased that there is basically nothing to complain about.
