All right. The portions are a bit too small

Overall delightful experience. Some absolute star dishes and others that were not particularly special, or were not executed to their full potential. I emphasize 'potential' because I think the young chef here has it. The descriptions that follow might not be 100% accurate as the server did not tell us too much about the food and we didn't ask, so I'm guessing some (very uncharacteristic of us not asking about every ingredient as a foodie couple, but it was an anniversary and we were just kinda going with the flow). See pictures... We each got the 7-course version for 93 Euro. The absolute stars for me were the carrot soup and the duck liver. Carrot soup. One side of the soup was orange carrot with goat cheese, the other side was dark purple carrot with cardamom. On top was a coconut foam. There was a grilled carrot and a goat cheese wonton tucked in the soup below the foam. I was blown away by the colors and flavor combinations. Duck liver. Large piece crisped on each side. Melting buttery delicate liver in between. Served on an apple puree. Across the plate was a dollup of mashed potatoes fortified with thin black truffle slices. Fortified, as in it looked castle-like! There were fried mini shallot rings and a sprout I could not identify, possibly a piney/forestry plant. Each on its own was OK, but mixing liver, apple, truffle, potato and garnishes was a show stopper. I can still taste it in my mind. The peculiar dishes were the salad and the duck filet. The salad was the starter after a really fun rice crisp with a Portuguese cabbage 'ravioli' with a cream filling, couldn't identify that cream but good. The salad was listed on the menu as having Rinderwurst (meat sausage, house made) but there was none. The dressing was a delicious vinegar type with some kind of citrus hint. But the salad was basic greens and perpindicularly sliced cucumbers with quartered tomatoes. It was almost cute, like a salad you could get at grandma's. Not necessarily visually impressive or showcasing chef talent. It was very tasty in fairness, just plain looking. The duck was a hearty piece of meat with a crispy skin. Delicious but almost impossible to eat because it was served in a bowl. Steak knife and deep vertical bowl are a no go together. Also the steak knife was not very sharp. The dish did have powdered pumpkin seeds, delicious jus and mushroom and shallots (flavorful but hard to eat) The ceviched swordfish was also star caliber food, as a play on Matjes and Red beat dishes characteristic of older German or Polish cuisine. The last course was also delicious with a Steinbut (Turbot, a flounder-like fish) that had a crispy skin. Large (too large), tasty pumpkin chunks were complemented with a kind of Bernaise sauce with little purple Shiso leaves tucked in. See picture: one fish piece had blackened skin and the other barely brown - somewhat inconsistent. It was extremely tasty overall. In summary, it was a pleasant experience and the little surrounding town is lovely for a stroll with restored old buildings and of course the Drachenfells castle nearby. I can imagine Covid has made it hard to keep a high level of consistent quality, and I look forward to the potential this restaurant has.. with some small tweaks it could become star potential.

What an AMAZING experience!! After I arrived from Portugal to visit a friend from Köln, she brings me to Bad Honnef, a very beautiful and historical city; after taking some photos, she took me to Restaurant Chamai to have our dinner... and what a fantastic dinner we had! The restaurant was so cosy and the people serving was gracious and very clever: they mention where the ingredients came from and how was prepared... So that attention to what I will eat after their words, give me more desire and... the rest is history for me: Tasty plates, 5-star wines, welcoming place... If you are reading this, this is a 5-STAR Restaurant, so if you want to have a outstanding gastronomic experience without disappointments, make sure you reserve your table today!
