I have ordered from here a few times now and as much as I want to give it a 5/5, I just can’t justify that score based on a few issues I’ve had with their menu items. The more I try it, the more flaws I find. Starting with the appetizers: I have ordered the Crab and Avocado Fresh Roll as well as the Shrimp ($7). The sauce and wrapper are tasty however the roll itself contains 80% lettuce. The Crab Roll is quite fishy tasting which is unappetizing (if you know, you know). I wouldn’t say it’s worth the price due to the lack of quality ingredients and ratio of roll filling to protein. The pastry for the Vegetarian Spring Roll (2 pieces for $14) is super crunchy and retains its integrity even with the sauce. 100% recommend and no complaints. Now for the noodle dishes: Pad See Ew ($15) is NOT even close to the traditional dish; everything is off from the noodle type, sauce, and ingredients (it’s traditionally served with egg and Chinese broccoli). It has a similar flavour profile to their Soy Sauce Chow Mien ($12) and also shares the inclusion of bean sprouts. Nonetheless, the “pad see ew” is a good noodle dish but it is not pad see ew. The Chiang Mai noodles ($15) are good, what you would expect. Vegetables: The Thai Spicy Eggplant ($15) is full of flavour, probably the best vegetable dish there. Like the fresh rolls, there is an abundance of fillers in the dish, notably bell peppers and onions. I tried to modify the dish asking for no peppers but instead of adding more eggplant, they put more onions. If it’s an eggplant dish, I want eggplant! Overall, while the dishes are tasty, there are some issues with the ratio of quality ingredients to filler ones. I have only enjoyed their take away options. Everything is well cooked, neatly packaged and very tasty. A must try is their shrimp chips. Amazing taste and such a lot for the price. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian choices are many and tasty. Most dishes can be done without meat. Lovely tastes. We went to Burlington waterfront for sightseeing and visited the Pomelo Asian Cuisine for lunch. It is the first time we visited this restaurant. The staff are friendly and the service is great. Good portion of food with reasonable price. Recommend to try this restaurant when you plan a visit to Burlington area.
