We visited the Deacon House on 19 October and arrived just before 11 - planning to have an early lunch. The venue is lovely with beautiful gardens. We gave our lunch orders to the waitress, who returned to inform us that the lunch menu would only be available from 11h30. Nowhere in the establishment or on the menu it was indicated that lunch items would only be available from a certain time. The waitress, a trainee still, was amazing and did her best to assist. The manager, however, was rude and dismissive and we decided to leave. We cannot comment on food, but the coffee and cappuccino was good. Staff was amazing but the utensils were dirty,the table was dirty ontop and under,and the fireplace has something living in it.Overall the place is dirty and I wouldn't recommend coming here. Service: Dine in Meal type: Other Food: 2 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3

What should have been an amazing first experience, turned out to be an overwhelming disappointment for my wife and I. It was 11.15am on the 30/03/2022 when we found what appeared to be a lovely venue, for a hot beverage and snack. A pleasant enough waiter came to assist with seating inside although we wanted outside. The garden was fully booked from 12.00pm. There were a few open tables which I pointed out. The waiter immediately said he would call the manager who had more authority than him, giving the distinct impression an option was available. Instead, the manager JP came along with such passive aggression making it clear there was no room for discussion. I was not going to get into any debate and told JP I was more disappointed in his attitude and would do a review. He arrogantly pointed out we were on cctv and he was the one in charge with extended authority to respond to any review. He was quick to point out that the cameras would pick up his friendly body lanuage thus exonerating him of my potential poor review. The owner needs to seriously review such passive aggressive hidden attitude and lack of ability of would be more senior staff or maybe even part owner, whose attitude does not allow them to be more customer centric.
