Unfortunately I was quite disappointed :-( Let's start at the beginning. The restaurant Patata-Bar was on our itinerary and was chosen because it also offers vegan dishes. The ambience on site was... well... let's call it "simple". I would have expected a little more, but it wasn't bad. The menu advertised buffalo meat - which makes you look forward to it :-) When ordering, my son had a classic burger with fries - it's not on the menu, but they have everything there, no problem (OK, plus point, unfortunately not every restaurant does that). My wife ordered the vegan burger with vegetable slices and a salad with avocado. I chose the fillet strips on lamb's lettuce. After a wait of 30 minutes, my wife got her food - my son and I had to wait another 10 minutes for our food. The appearance of the two burgers was really good, my wife's salad consisted mostly of iceberg lettuce and there were already numerous brown edges. I was bitterly disappointed: the two small fillet tips were served in one piece on a hot plate with the saying “I had to check the doneness for myself”. Please, what? Since my salad plate arrived late, I couldn't take the meat off the hot plate until I had the plate - a minute or two longer on the hot plate would have ruined the meat. How can you ask the guest to recognize a doneness when STRIPS have been ordered? But I'll get to that again in a moment. And my salad - that was rocket and not lamb's lettuce. In terms of taste, they are worlds apart and a chef should be able to tell the difference. Since I was very hungry, I started eating anyway. The taste. My son was very satisfied. I tried his burger patty and found it to be a bit over-seasoned - but that's a matter of taste. In any case, he liked it. My wife's burger was very vinegary and the avocado was very hard - so not ripe. The iceberg lettuce tasted wilted, which meant the salad wasn't really edible. Now to me. The meat was of very good quality and very black. OK, I have myself to thank for the fact that it wasn't "leathery" because I took it off the hot plate early enough. Unfortunately the meat was already seasoned. It had too much salt and too much pepper. And I imagine there was something else to it - maybe onion or garlic granules. In any case, the seasoning downgraded the meat considerably. The salad was inedible. I don't like rocket and therefore opted for the lamb's lettuce. When paying, the gentleman at the counter couldn't handle the cash register and was repeatedly "thrown out". Since I didn't need a receipt, he added it up by hand. When he asked how it tasted, I reported the above and explained that I was very dissatisfied with the fact that the salad was different and the meat was served in one piece on a hot plate. He agreed with me about the salad - it tastes different too. But he didn't reveal why that happened. Regarding the meat, he said that they always want to do it this way because the meat then arrives juicier to the guests. OK, I can understand that, but they shift the responsibility for the doneness from the cook to the guest. I happen to know that not everyone knows how to determine the doneness of a fillet without having a thermometer... Also, you should at least ask the guest beforehand whether it was OK or whether it should be cut in the kitchen (at the risk of it not being as juicy) - nothing was taken into account. It's "better" like this. I can understand this “better” thing. The more time the meat has to rest, the juicier it is. Stop - it's not resting, it's still cooking. So a wooden board would be the right one to serve the meat in one piece. So the chef would be responsible for the degree of doneness (as it should be) and the guest gets a juicy piece of meat. Nevertheless: you have to ask the guest what he wants. A pity
