A week before the surprise party for a dear friend, my partner orders a lactose-free cake, obviously agreeing on the price (high, but we accepted it). On the day of collection I go to the pastry shop and the cake is not ready because they had lost the order card. Ok, it can happen. They apologize and garnish one on the spot, but by charging more than necessary and preparing it with ingredients containing lactose. And that's fine, patience. So the lady at the checkout tells me, since there was a mistake on their part and that the cake is now garnished, that we can keep that and that they will give us one made as per the order to be collected at 7.30pm. This complicates our party plans, but we organize ourselves according to the announced time. At 5.30pm, however, we receive the call to collect the new cake. My partner manages to break away from the birthday girl only at 7pm and goes to the pastry shop: the place is closing, but luckily they are still there and they deliver the cake to him, asking him to pay a surplus of 10 euros (which he obviously pays), because the ingredients for a lactose-free cake cost more. This was told to him by an employee who repeated several times that the owner would call us the following day to explain. Well, the call didn't come, when we agreed everything we hadn't been told about the surcharge for lactose-free ingredients and the pastry shop didn't have the courage to tell us about it on the phone when they called us to say that the second cake was ready. In practice they made the mistake and, not only did they upset our plans, but they made fun of us with the prices by pretending to give us a cake (the one with lactose) that no one had asked for, repaying it with an incorrect weight and with the surplus of 10 euros more for lactose-free ingredients. To avoid losing a handful of euros they lost a new customer... too bad because the products are also good.
